Learning how to read and write is a significant part of elementary learning. Students have learned the basics of writing, and are practicing the rules and concepts of formal writing. Grammar plays a large role in the way sentences are written, and therefore is emphasized during the students' elementary school years. Practicing reading and writing are other areas that the elementary students practice during their elementary school years. Because writing and reading are new to the students, the process of learning how to do them may be difficult.
